On October 25-27, 2019, a UIUC delegation led by the Director of Chinese-American Railway Transportation Joint Research Center, Prof. Ouyang Yanfeng, along with Mr. Johannes Köhler, a researcher from the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at UIUC, attended the 4th International Conference on Electrical and Information Technologies for Rail Transportation in Qingdao, China.
This conference was hosted by China Electrotechnical Society, State Key Laboratory of Rail Traffic Control and Safety, Beijing Jiaotong University, China. It attracted the attention of multiple worldwide well-known universities and research institutes, and over 400 renown practitioners and researchers attended this conference to present their cutting-edge studies on electrical engineering and information technologies regarding rail transportation.
本次会议由中国电工技术学会， 及北京交通大学轨道交通控制与安全国家重点实验室联合主办。来自全球多所高等院校、研究机构的400多名相关从业人员和研究人员出席了本次会议， 并在会议上介绍了他们在电气工程和铁路运输信息技术方面的前沿研究。
During the conference, Prof. Ouyang Yanfeng was invited to give a keynote speech on recent research advancements about electrical engineering and information technologies in rail transportation that achieved by the researchers in Chinese-American Railway Transportation Joint Research Center at UIUC. Among a broad range of ongoing research topics, this speech featured several research works that most relevant to the conference subject, including the simulation study on electric/magnetic/thermal coupling for converters conducted by Prof. Nenad Miljkovic, intelligent technology of IGBT drive developed by Prof. Arijit Banerjee, study of traction motor failure identification method based on the network monitoring strategy of rolling stock status led by Prof. Taylor Dick, simulation technology for rail network and communication control developed by Prof. David Nicol, and the bi-directional power converter for rail applications studied by Prof. Andrew Stillwell.
会议期间，欧阳彦峰教授受邀发表了关于“美国伊利诺伊大学香槟分校中美联合轨道交通研究中心 的研究人员在轨道交通电气工程和信息技术方面最新研究进展”的主题演讲。在研究中心的众多研究课题中，本次演讲重点介绍了与会议主旨最为相关的研究项目，包括由Nenad Miljkovic教授领导的关于变流器电/磁/热耦合的仿真研究，由Arijit Banerjee 教授研发的IGBT驱动器智能技术，由Taylor Dick教授的研究团队提出的基于机车车辆状态网络监控下的牵引电动机故障识别方法，由David Nicol教授开发的轨道交通网络控制及通信控制仿真技术，以及Andrew Stillwell教授研究的应用于轨道交通的双向功率变换器。
As a research member of the intelligent technology for IGBT drive study, Mr. Johannes Köhler from Prof. Nenad Miljkovic’s research group gave a presentation to reveal the details of their advanced health monitoring techniques of the IGBT drive, including the prediction of drive remaining life and the root cause analysis after IGBT failure.
